Over deze cursus

This course offers students a theoretical background in the domain of learning and instruction at an introductory (BSc) level. The course specifically focuses on learning and instruction in school settings (secondary and vocational education). Students are expected through assignments to apply learning and instruction theory in their own lessons and to reflect on these experiences in their portfolio.
NB: this course is part of the Minor Education and is integrated with an internship at a school. Note that if you are interested, you can contact the coordinator Piety Runhaar (piety.runhaar@wur.nl) about six months before the actual start of the minor, so that the internship can be organized.

Leerresultaten

After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:

  • Describe and explain essential theoretical notions with respect to the following topics: 1. learning and instruction theories 2. pedagogy and classroom management 3. characteristics of learning and individual differences 4. self-regulated learning and learning to learn 5. testing and 6. behavioral and learning problems (6. not compulsory for the exam)
  • Apply learning and instruction theory in their own lessons and reflect on these experiences
