Over deze cursus
Many large and smaller firms see warehousing as a core business. Based on its location in Europe and expertise of its logistic service providers, the Netherlands is a major site for distribution centers for many multinational companies. This course focuses on logistics within a facility and relates to operations, process design and execution. We will address such questions as: what is the most appropriate combination of storage system and handling system under which circumstances; and what is the resulting performance? Besides discussion on operational storage and order picking strategies, also system choices are evaluated.
Leerresultaten
In this course basic concepts and techniques in warehouse operations management will be introduced.
he objectives of the course are:
- After the course, the student is able to analyze the performance of material handling systems in warehouses conform to scientific standards
- After the course, the student is able to design material handling systems in warehouses, according to design standards and the target KPIs, within a given scope.
During the course the students will practice with the basic concepts and models by solving exercises and by making group assignments based on real-life cases.
