About this course

We live in a complex world characterized by devastating changes. Increasing demands are placed on every individual, organization, and society, putting them under pressure. In this life, we all face challenges, and we need to find a path that contributes to society, the world, and above all, a life you cherish. What is your way of contributing to and / or dealing with this world so that you can stand your ground with sufficient endurance and resilience? Also considering the real possibilities of the world, humanity, and you as an individual?

This question is posed to you as a student in the Resilience Lab. A course which is part of an EWUU package in which multiple courses are offered to students from Eindhoven, Wageningen, Utrecht, and UMCU (EWUU). Through this interdisciplinary collaboration, our shared goal is to prepare students like you for your own, as well as global, challenging future by learning to apply various principles related to resilience and endurance, both on a personal and social level.

The Resilience Lab is a ribbon course offered over a period of time to enable you to collaborate, share, reflect, and practice with other students from different institutions at various moments. You'll be challenged to integrate knowledge and expertise you've already gathered during courses part of this EWUU packages and other courses of interest you've completed, into action: how can those aspects become (even more) relevant for me and society? This process creates cross-pollination and -inspiration on multiple levels, allowing you to change and implement perspectives while learning with and from each other.

Content-wise, resilience is explored as an approach to strengthen and nurture your own and societal capacity, stability and wellbeing. Through a whole-person-approach you're invited to consciously take ownership of your own purpose and intentional contribution to today's society. Hence, it is an exploratory and participatory course in which you look at yourself on different levels, your immediate environment, and a broader global perspective, finding your own way that suits you best to become and remain resilient by designing your own Tailor-Made Strategies (TMS's). You learn to recognize your personal triggers for stressors and the challenges of bouncing back and beyond to strengthen and nurture your balance. Therefore, it is a tailor-made outcome for everyone participating, as it cannot be a 'one size fits all' approach. Everyone is different and has their own way of discovering what works. So, for you too.
