Image analysis for health-care technologies

5LSJ0

About this course

The basic techniques considered in the introductory course on medical imaging (5XSA0) form the background for the advanced analysis approaches. This course provides knowledge and understanding of state-of-the-art algorithms applied in imaging for healthcare. We will consider image restoration, segmentation, classification and validation approaches. Use cases where research questions are answered by clinical data analysis will be presented and discussed.

Learning outcomes

• Understanding the main image and video analysis algorithms for healthcare technologies and medical data analysis
• Choosing adequate image restoration or enhancement techniques based on the content and context of data acquisitions
• Understand the role of descriptors for image and video analysis
• Apply feature extraction methods and learn how to derive new features based on clinical knowledge
• Classify and validate medical data analysis results
• Make informed and motivated choices of algorithms for image analysis
• Develop own approaches for solving image analysis tasks
