About this minor

Have you always wanted to create a fully functional robot from scratch? In this minor, you’ll collaborate in an interdisciplinary team to design and build a robotic prototype for a real-world customer. Teams are formed based on your interests.

  • First 10 weeks : Focus on courses that prepare you to design and build a robot.
  • Last 10 weeks : Hands-on experience building the robotic prototype.

Learning outcomes

During this minor, you will:

  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary team to develop a robotic prototype for a customer.
  • Discover your role in a multidisciplinary project.
  • Gain an understanding of the subsystems and components of robots.
  • Compare and evaluate design choices and make informed decisions.
  • Learn about the processes and technologies involved in building a robotic prototype.

Depending on your background, you’ll delve deeper into specific robotics technologies.

Teaching method and examination

Apart from the courses that mainly take place in the first quarter, you will work in a team on a robotic prototype.

  • Project (15 EC): In teams, you’ll work on a robotic prototype. Assessment includes:

  • Design report (30%)

  • Handover document (20%)

  • Robotic prototype (40%)

  • Peer review (10%)

  • Courses (15 EC): The first quarter focuses on courses. Assessment methods vary by course.
