Introduction to Data Structures and Algorithms for Health

INF22803

About this course

This course will introduce students to basic concepts of computing and problem solving. The course will start with introducing concepts like computer, programming language, software programs, and computer architecture. Subsequently, the concepts of basic data structures and algorithms will be explained and demonstrated in the application of the health domain. Students will learn to identify the algorithms and data structures for related problems in the health domain. With the provided hands-on experience students will learn to make balanced decisions in selecting and applying suitable data structures and algorithms.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:

  • Show insight in basic computer science terminology and concepts
  • Explain key concepts of data structures and algorithms
  • Compare and select suitable basic data structures for health related data
  • Implement a proper data structure for health related data
  • Use selected algorithms to solve health related data problems
