Professional Profile

YMS32306

About this course

The professional profile course runs during four consecutive weeks in the second year of the MADE program. The course will function as the linking pin between the Amsterdam Living Lab course (YMS70324) and the Thesis (YMS-80330). Students will reflect on the interrelation between the domains of research, design and engineering on the one hand and their own talents, interests, and future role in society on the other. During the course, students look back on the MADE program and look forward to their professional careers to formulate their professional identities and translate these into preliminary plans for their possible future careers.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:

  • Explore the spectrum of possible career paths of MADE graduates, and identify how they have dealt with these in their studies so far
  • Position themselves at the spectrum and articulate how their personal professional profile is built upon the courses done in the first year of the programme and in their on-going thesis and Living Lab work
  • Translate their identified profile to possible concrete steps for starting off their careers
  • Convincingly present their professional identities, reflecting on their work done so far (in and outside the study programme) and their future aspirations
