Physiology and Development of Plants in Agriculture

HPP20306EWUU alliantie

Over deze cursus

This course focuses on the physiology and development of agricultural plants, ornamentals, and fruits. The physiological content emphasizes plant responses to the environment, such as temperature stress, light signals, and plant nutrition. The developmental content deals with plant propagation techniques, flower induction, development, and plant morphological control.

Leerresultaten

  • Apply the principles of vegetative propagation and explain how they interact with plant developmental processes

  • Evaluate physiological data to assess plant responses to abiotic factors such as light, water, nutrients, temperature, and humidity

  • Apply knowledge of plant development (e.g. germination, maturity, flowering, fruiting) to predict and manage plant growth, development and subsequent yield in protected cropping systems

  • Apply principles of plant nutrition to diagnose and alleviate nutrient deficiencies and to minimise nutrient waste or inefficiencies

  • Evaluate experimental outcomes and communicate findings in a scientific report

Toetsing

  • ? (30%) Practical reports. Three students per group. After three years, students must re-enroll in the course.
  • ? (50%) Final exam. Resit options are available twice a year, once as a resit, once during regular course offering.
  • ? (20%) Practical Quiz - Week 6. Resit options may be either a retake of digital exam or oral exam, depending on the course coordinator.
