Philosophical logic uses logical methods to tackle philosophical problems. In this course, we will study selected such methods and learn how to apply them in our own philosophical work. We will discuss questions concerning the nature of truth, time, possibility, obligation, and other concepts. We will address these questions by developing formal models of the relevant concepts and by studying these models in a rigorous, mathematical fashion.
The first 4 weeks of the course cover a core curriculum which we'll then extend with additional topics chosen from a predefined menu, based on the participants interests and preferences.
