About this course
Expanding on 0HV50, this course introduces advanced statistical techniques such as logistic regression. multi-level regression and factor analysis. Ethical considerations in data handling and conducting scientific research are emphasized, equipping students to conduct comprehensive, responsible studies in a transparent and reproducible way. This course completes the core training in research methodology in the Bachelor’s, preparing students to be capable of conducting independent, ethically informed quantitative research.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course, students should be able to:
- Conduct appropriate (advanced) statistical analyses, including logistic regression, multi-level regression, and factor analysis.
- Interpret the outcomes of statistical analyses in light of the limitations of the data and chosen procedure (i.e.a healthy skepticism to datasets).
- Present scientific research in a transparent and reproducible manner.
- Identify appropriate ethical considerations in scientific research (e.g. effect size calculations).
After this course, PT students who have participated in the information skills online module are able to:
- Construct and apply effective research strategies by identifying quality research questions, selecting appropriate search terms, utilizing databases, managing references with citation tools, and adhering to academic integrity principles.
