PPE Perspectives

FI3V19020

About this course

This course brings together all three disciplines that contribute to the PPE Minor: philosophy, history, and economics.
The overarching topic of this course is the idea of PPE itself. In addition to learning about some of the main ideas (e.g. about markets and how to study them) that have been proposed by scholars of the various disciplines that make up PPE, students will reflect on the extent to which - despite coming from different disciplines - these ideas are all contributions to the one and the same, ongoing conversation.

Learning outcomes

In this course, students will work to produce an interdisciplinary paper on a concrete societal topic or challenge (TBA). The course walks the students through the various stages of an interdisciplinary research process. Students will engage critically with the perspectives of the PPE disciplines and learn how to combine disciplinary insights in the generation of an interdisciplinary conclusion. Students will acquire basic knowledge in the methodologies used in the PPE disciplines.
