Becoming a Teacher 1

ELS34406

About this course

Becoming a Teacher 1 integrates theory on teachers' professional development with practical teacher training. Students gain teaching experience during their internship and learn to continually reflect upon their experiences and the development of their teaching competencies, through assignments (both individual and group work), group intervision and feedback sessions, discussion and theory. Proof of their development is through a portfolio. They learn to formulate learning goals and plan activities with which they further develop themselves during the intership at a secondary school. Every student is assigned a mentor from WUR and the secondary school to prepare and supervise the internship, who will both provide feedback on the development as a teacher.

NB: this course is part of the Minor Education and is integrated with an internship at a school. Note that if you are interested, you can contact the coordination team of the minor (via minor.educatie@wur.nl) well in advance of the actual start of the minor, so that the internship can be organized. Deadline for application for semester I is April 1st, deadline for application for semester II is October 1st
