Over deze cursus
This course first describes the emergence of the vision that robots will be broadly deployed in our society. Then we identify some key technical characteristics of robotics/AI. What kind of machines are robots actually? What kinds of technologies are we discussing when we talk about robots or AI? Subsequently, we look at some key social characteristics of robots, and we will discuss the ethical questions in robotic innovation. Finally, we address the technical opportunities and challenges in developing the interaction of social robots based on multiple group assignments.
Leerresultaten
After this course, students are able to:
- explain why social robotics is a potentially highly disruptive technology in the shorter and longer-term;
- recognize the political and administrative issues with regard to the first learning objective;
- understand the architecture of different types of robots/Artificial Intelligence and their possibilities and limitations;
- understand the concept of an 'algorithm' and demonstrate knowledge of the possibilities and fundamental limitations of computation;
- reflect on the ethical issues with regard to the technical options of robotics/Artificial Intelligence;
- develop a concept for a social robot solution based on the criteria for design evaluation.
