Over deze minor
The minor Technology-Based Entrepreneurship provides a basis for students who would like to supplement their technical knowledge and skills with entrepreneurship knowledge and skills in order to create and seize new opportunities in the market. The minor is offered by the Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship (DCE) and lecturers from TPM. By means of an integral case study, the knowledge and skills are applied in project in which an idea, a market and a technology are brought together into a viable startup.
After following the minor, you will be able to analyse markets and assess technological developments, make analyses of start-up organisations and, on this basis, recognise opportunities in the market that can be addressed via tech-based products. This knowledge, combined with your knowledge from your technical discipline, make you an interesting candidate to attract radical innovation projects at existing organizations or to start your own business. This minor prepares you for entrepreneurship in the broadest sense of the word.
Throughout the minor, you will work intensively in a multidisciplinary team, bringing together engineering, business, and design perspectives to develop a technology-based startup. The learning experience is highly experiential: rather than working mainly behind a laptop, you will spend a significant amount of time outside the classroom engaging with potential users, customers, and other relevant stakeholders to conduct rigorous customer discovery and market learning. By testing assumptions in real-world contexts and iterating based on feedback, you will learn how technology-based ventures are actually built in practice, preparing you to operate effectively in uncertain, innovation-driven environments.
Attendance during the first week (kick-off week) is mandatory. During this week, teams will be formed and students will start working on a startup idea from Week 2 onwards.
The minor is offered in English, and all lectures, assignments, and assessments are conducted in English.
