About this minor
A package is similar to a minor in that it offers a selected set of courses connected to the same theme/ topic. Unlike a minor, however, a package provides greater flexibility in terms of the total number of ECTS credits and the number of mandatory courses. Despite the use of the term “mandatory courses” below, you are not required to take all courses within the package. Instead, the package is designed to help you explore a topic in greater depth while allowing you to choose a combination of electives that best fits your interests and study program.
In this package, you will explore how innovation drives the transition to sustainability, focusing on the economic mechanisms and policies that shape innovative activities. You will gain insight into how firms, regions, and countries stimulate and manage innovation, and how these processes can be guided toward more sustainable outcomes.
It is strongly recommended to follow a logical progression when selecting courses within this package. Economics of innovation: Introduction” is the introductory course and provides an initial basis by defining the key concepts in the economics of innovation and main mechanism underlying the innovation process. “Economic policy” focuses on innovation policy: how can we stimulate and steer the innovation process and create the conditions for firms to be innovative? “Evaluating economic policy: SCBA (OGO)” is an (OGO) project course where students learn to apply the knowledge from Economics of innovation: Introduction and “Economic policy” to a large infrastructure project using the tools of social cost-benefit analysis. Finally, in the course “Economics of Innovation: Advanced” students use advanced theories and methodologies of economics of innovation to analyze actual problems of innovation for sustainability.
